š Europe Eases AI Rules to Keep Up

In todayās email:

šŖšŗ France Leads EU AI Push

France just threw a massive AI party in Paris, and what is the big takeaway? Regulation is so last season. Instead of worrying about red tape, European leaders are now laser-focused on throwing big money at AI to catch up with the global race.
Hereās the deal:
Macron announced ā¬109 billion in AI investments, plus a new ā¬150 billion EU AI Champions initiative.
The EUās once-strict AI Act? Now, itās all about being āinnovation-friendlyā (translation: letās not scare off tech giants).
LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman chimed in, saying Europe needs to stop obsessing over avoiding every possible AI hiccupābecause innovation is messy.
But not everyoneās popping champagne:
Some experts think some regulation could help businesses, not hinder them.
Concerns about intellectual property, creativity, and sustainability? Not exactly front and center.
A āglobal public interest partnershipā was announced to promote AI for good, but with just $2.5 billion over five years, itās more of a side dish than the main course.
Bottom line? Europe is betting big on AI, and Macron wants to make France the cool kid in the AI playground. But will it work?
āØLiving Intelligence: AI Glow-Up You Didn't See Coming

Think AI is the future? Think again. The real future is something even wilderāLiving Intelligence. This isnāt just smarter AI; itās AI that senses, learns, adapts, and evolves like a digital chameleon. Three big tech forces power it:
The Holy Trinity of Living Intelligence:
AI ā The brain (but, supercharged).
Advanced Sensors ā The senses (tracking everything from your heart rate to your mood).
Bioengineering ā The muscle (think computers made of actual brain cellsāyep, thatās happening).
Why This Matters:
Companies that only focus on AI will get steamrolled by this tech wave. Instead, Living Intelligence will:
Revolutionize retail ā Predicting exactly what customers want before they even know.
Upgrade healthcare ā Moving from treatment to prevention using real-time health tracking.
Rethink materials ā Bioengineered fabrics and eco-friendly production could replace traditional supply chains.
TL;DR If AI was the warm-up, Living Intelligence would be the main event.
š§ AI Might Be Making Us Dumb

Designed by Freepik
Is AI making us dumber? Wellā¦ kinda, but not exactly. A study from Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon looked at how people use AI at work and whether itās turning our brains into mush.
Hereās the gist:
When we rely too much on AI, we stop flexing our critical thinking muscles.
Instead of analyzing and creating, we check whether AIās output is āgood enough.ā
If AI messes up, and weāre out of practice thinking for ourselves, weāre in trouble.
The study surveyed 319 people who use AI at work. They mostly use it for:
Creation (e.g., writing emails)
Information (e.g., summarizing articles)
Advice (e.g., making charts, asking for guidance)
While 36% of participants did put in effort to double-check AI, many didnāt fully understand AIās limitations. And funny enough, those who were super confident in AI actually used less critical thinking than those who trusted their own judgment.
So, does AI make us dumb? Not directly. But if we let AI do all the thinking, we might forget how to do it ourselves.
